  • What documents are needed to Send or Receive money

    1.   Your Original ID – only the first time, to register as a CashUnited Customer and obtain a CashUnited ID Golden Card (CU ID).


    2.   Your CU ID – once registered as a CashUnited customer.


     Additional documents proving the purpose of your transfers and the relationship between you and your recipient or sender might be further requested for compliance reasons in case the amounts are large or the transactions become repetitive.

    How to Receive Money

    1.    Visit a nearby CashUnited agent location*.

    2.    If you are transferring money with CashUnited for the first time, give your original ID to the CashUnited agent in addition to all other details such as but not limited to your mobile number and residential address to register as a CashUnited Customer and obtain our “Golden Card – CU ID”.

    3.    If you are already a registered CashUnited Customer, Give your “Golden Card – CU ID” 7-digit number to the CashUnited agent.

    4.    Give the CashUnited agent the reference number given to you by the sender.

    5.    Give the CashUnited agent the amount you are expecting in addition to the sender’s full name and country of origin.

    6.    Ask the agent to give you the corresponding transferred amount and currency as showing on the money transfer system.

    a.    MoneyGram International transfers can only be received in Lebanese Pounds (LBP), as stipulated in Intermediate Circular Number 514 issued by the Central Bank of Lebanon on 14/1/2019.

    b.    Local money transfers can be received in US Dollars (USD) or Lebanese Pounds (LBP).

    7.    If the amount given by the CashUnited agent meets your expectations, ask the agent to complete the transaction.

    8.    Collect the transfer amount in CASH only.

    9.    Count the money in full BEFORE leaving the agent location.

    10. Sign the agent copy of the printed transfer receipt including the amount and currency you collected and take your copy of the receipt signed and stamped by the CashUnited agent.

    1. Keep the receipt for a period of at least five years following your transfer date.

    How to Send Money

    1.    Visit a nearby CashUnited agent location*.

    2.    If you are transferring money with CashUnited for the first time, give your original ID to the CashUnited agent in addition to all other details such as but not limited to your mobile number and residential address to register as a CashUnited Customer and obtain our “Golden Card – CU ID”.

    3.    If you are already a registered CashUnited Customer, Give your “Golden Card – CU ID” 7-digit number to the CashUnited agent.

    4.    Inform the agent about the amount you wish to send and the country of destination.

    5.    Ask the CashUnited agent to give you the following:

    • Transaction fees
    • Payout amount
    • Payout currencies, where applicable
    • Payout options, if applicable, such as bank deposit or mobile wallet top-up
    • Country Information/Limitations if any (such as maximum amount or other)

    6.    Specify to the CashUnited Agent which payout option and currency you would like, where applicable.

    7.    Give your recipient’s full name as written on the ID they will be using to collect the money.

    • If sending to a bank account, you also need your recipient's bank name and account number.
    • If sending to a mobile wallet, you also need your recipient's mobile number with international dial code.

    8.    Pay the transaction amount and transaction fees.

    • MoneyGram International money transfers can only be sent in US Dollars (USD).
    • Local money transfers can be sent in US Dollars (USD) or Lebanese Pounds (LBP), depending on the selected payout currency.

    9.    Ask for the printed copy of the receipt signed and stamped by the CashUnited agent and including mostly importantly the reference number of the transfer in addition to the payout amount and payout currency.

    10. Give the reference number to your recipient for instant pick-up. Funds sent to a bank account or mobile wallet will be sent directly into the account or mobile wallet, where applicable.

    11. Keep the receipt for a period of at least five years following your transfer date.

    How to Reverse a Transaction

    1.    Visit the CashUnited agent location you sent the money from.

    2.    Give the reference number of your transfer and ask to reverse it.

    ·        The transfers can only be reversed in case they haven’t been yet collected by the recipient.

    ·        Blocked transfers by MoneyGram International are subject to specific conditions thus cannot be reversed on the spot either.

    3.    Show your original ID and give the transfer receipt to the CashUnited Agent.

    4.    The agent will then contact CashUnited’s head office and request the reversal.

    5.   Once the transfer has been authorized, the CashUnited agent will pay you back the transfer amount excluding the transaction fees.

    6.    Count the money in full BEFORE leaving the agent location.

    7.    Sign the agent copy of the printed reversal receipt including the amount and currency you collected and take your copy of the receipt signed and stamped by the CashUnited agent.

    Keep the receipt for a period of at least five years following your transfer date.

    Who to contact if my beneficiary is having trouble collecting his/her money

    1.    Make sure they have the correct Reference Number.

    2.    Make sure they know your full name as registered on the transaction

    3.    Make sure their name spelling is correct on the transaction and that the spelling matches the ID document they are presenting at the receive agent.

    4.    Verify that they had a valid photo identification document.

    How to know which scenarios are mostly used by fraudsters

    The most common fraud scenarios are the following:

    •      Someone you don’t know or haven’t personally met.

    •      Someone you met online asking for financial assistance. 

    •      Someone selling goods or services and specifically recommending using CASHUNITED or MONEYGRAM to pay them.

    •      A government agency, taxing authority, or the police.

    •      Someone claiming to help you get an inheritance or prize.

    •      Someone offering you a job / a residence permit / a work permit / a Visa.

    •      Someone claiming to be in an emergency situation that you cannot confirm.

    •      Someone putting an apartment for rent or selling anything online or on any mobile application.

    •      Someone asking you for proof that you have enough money to buy a car or any other product rent a property, or get a loan or credit.

    •      Someone offering a mystery shopping service.

    •      Someone you haven’t met in person or know well asking for your transfer’s details or receipt or asking you to share your ID or passport.

     

    CashUnited will not be liable if you ignore the fraud warnings above and still choose to send money for any of the reasons listed above or if you are victim of a fraud.

     

    If you sent the money to someone matching the scenarios given in the scenarios provided in the section “How to know which scenarios are mostly used by fraudsters”, ask if you can get your money back, which is only possible if the money hasn't been yet collected. If the money has already been collected, CashUnited and/or MoneyGram cannot refund it or pay it back to the sender.


    Who is able to pick up the money I sent

    The person receiving the transfer must present a valid photo ID matching the name of the recipient on the transaction and know details about the transfer.

    To help protect yourself further, DO NOT disclose transaction information to anyone other than the designated receiver, transaction information is confidential and puts you at risk of being victim of Fraud.

    Do I need to be present in person to pay my bill

    It is recommended to be present in person to settle any bill and obtain the corresponding receipt. But if you send someone you highly trust, you should provide them with all the needed information to pay the bill then make sure to obtain the payment receipt to confirm your bill has been successfully settled.


    Is there any restriction on the amount I can pay

    Limits are subject to each service requirements. They can vary depending on the type of the service and the company you are paying for. Some require to pay an exact amount, some only have an upper limit and some others have a minimum amount required to be paid.     How can I make sure my bill was settled

    Only cars purchased from USA or Canada are listed in the Carfax service. Carfax reports for vehicles being purchased from other regions such as Europe are not available.


    What does the Car Alert service consist of?

    Service consists of subscribing to the LibanPost annual SMS Car Alert service that sends out text messages (SMS) to the subscribed customers’ mobile numbers reminding them of the following deadlines for all their registered cars:

    1. Mechanic due payment date.
    2. Compulsory insurance renewal date.
    3. Any unpaid outstanding Parkmeter before mechanic.
    4. Any issued parkmeter ticket on the registered cars.
    5. Any issued speed ticket on the registered cars.
